It’s not every day that someone gets proposed to in front of a castle… unless of course, you are in Ireland. On July 3rd, 2018 in front of Dunguaire Castle near Galway, Ireland, Landon got down on one knee and asked Bella to marry him and she said yes!
Now I have captured several proposals over the years, but this one was different. I’ve known these two for several years, as Bella was a former student of mine, and I have travelled to Europe with both of them in the past.
Needless to say when I heard that Landon wanted to propose to Bella in Ireland, I wanted to make it an unforgettable experience for the both of them. Bella had her suspicions that he was going to ask her in Ireland, but after searching his suitcase to no avail, she believed that he definitely was not going to propose to her in Ireland.
Landon, Andrew & I had originally planned to do this at the Cliffs of Moher… because that would have been epic, but literally 2 hours before leaving for the Castle Banquet, Landon had decided that he didn’t want to wait any longer and that because they were both going to be dressed up for the banquet that it would the right time to ask.
So Andrew & I had devised a plan with my in-laws and another former student of mine, Kaitlyn, to set the stage. Upon arriving at the castle, we suggested that we should get photos of everyone. First, we took photos of my in-laws and then of Kaitlyn. Then, we told Bella and Landon that it was their turn. Bella unknowingly asked Kaitlyn to take a photo of them on her phone… which Kaitlyn instantly turned to video to capture the proposal. I’m actually surprised that Bella did not know that it was going to happen because Landon was so jittery on the bus. I was afraid that he was going to give it away.
After snapping a few shots, I gave Landon a head nod and he turned to Bella, got down on one knee and proposed. They were even made King and Queen of the Banquet.
We wish them a lifetime of love, happiness, and of course a lifetime of adventures. We cannot wait to celebrate with them, their families, and their friends next year!
